Anzac Day 2018
Centenary of the Western Front
New York City
Australians and New Zealanders commemorate ANZAC Day on the 25th April each year to remember those who served and died in war and on operational service. The spirit of ANZAC, with its qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.
Between 2014 and 2018 we commemorate the Anzac Centenary, marking 100 years since our involvement in the First World War. The Centenary of the First World War provides a unique opportunity to commemorate the service of over 400,000 Australians, with the loss of 60,000 and over 156,000 wounded. It allows us to remember the huge impact of war on Australian families and communities, and reflect on those who are currently serving.
